Description: Ship's rudder comprising sea weathered timber on a brass rod. Remains of copper sheathing evident. Much concretion. Looks more like a piece of sculpture than a rudder. Recovered near the wreck of the City of Edinburgh, wrecked off Prime Seal Island in 1840 (see diagram). Rudder is displayed end on for stability.
