Description: A Cantonese black lacquer work table decorated in gold designed as a sewing and writing table. It consists of three compartments. The centre compartmetn has an adjustable desk top covered in green felt with a slide out waste paper basket made from pale green silk underneath. The two side pockets for storing sewing materials are also made from pale green silk with hinged wooden lids. The work top is supported on two turned legs with a cross piece which could serve as a foot rest.
